Brightlingsea 4th - 5th June

Ian Stow from Weston SC won the second Europe Class National Ranking event of the season at Brightlingsea SC on 4th and 5th June. Eight sailors took part, but very strong wind conditions on Saturday allowed for only one race. Sunday was less windy and three races were completed. Read Robert Laurie's report here. Rutland 16th - 17th April

Seven Europes turned out for the first national ranking event of the season, with three travelling from Bexhill Sailing Club, one from Weston with three more travelling South from various points North. On Saturday the winds were very light and kept shifting and the sailors who guessed the wind shifts correctly in the three races made the best progress. Sunday started with light winds which gradually became a force 3. The wind remained shifty, requiring skill and tactics to win. Five races were held on Sunday which saw Katie Mapplebeck's more consistent performance prevail over Gareth William's distinctly more erratic and acrobatic approach. The racing remained close further down the fleet with Stacey Vials doing enough to secure third place from Ian Stow. Report by Gareth Williams and Stacey Vials. Further Report and Results here.
