Inland Championships

Rutland SC 1st-2nd November, 2003

Rutland hosted the latest round of the Holt RYA National Ranking series over the weekend of
1st/2nd November and with it our Inland Championships. Chris Gill dominated the first day,
winning three out of four races. A third and fourth on the final day was enough to see him win the
weekend and be crowned Europe Inland Champion. Two first places on the Sunday for Andrea
Brewster
saw her finish in 2nd place in front of Lizzie Vickers who took 3rd. Full Results

Warsash SC 19-20th July, 2003

RYA National Ranking Series

Warsash 15-16th November, 2003

Last weekend saw Warsash host the final ranking event of 2003. Fourteen Europes turned out,
with James Eynon counting three first places from the five races and topping the fleet. Chris Gill
finished in second place and Andrea Brewster third. Full Results


Weymouth 18-19th October, 2003

Last weekend saw the latest of the Holt RYA National Ranking events. Lizzie Vickers led the
Europe fleet home with three first places and nothing below third. Lizzie was also presented with
a Holt ‘goody bag’ supplied by the sponsors for finishing as first non-lottery funded sailor in the
class. Andrea Brewster was 2nd and Chris Gill 3rd. Full Results


Hayling Island 10-11th May, 2003

Round two of the 2003 Holt RYA National Ranking Series took place at Hayling Island Sailing Club over the weekend of the 10/11 May. Twelve Europes competed with Laura Baldwin sailing superbly to dominate the event. Laura finished the 6 race event with 5 wins and a 2nd (which she was able to discard). Andrea Brewster was 2nd overall and Kirsty Bonar 3rd. Full Results.


Queen Mary 29-30th March, 2003

Fifteen Europes competed at Queen Mary over the weekend, in the first National Ranking event of 2003. Laura Baldwin took first place with 12pts, Andrea Brewster was second with 15pts and Chris Gill and Nicky Muller tied for 3rd place each with 16pts. Report and Results.

 

Overseas Events


World Championships 11th - 18th September, 2003

 

Siren Sundby (Norway) is the new World Champion, with Sari Multala (Finland) 2nd and Mary Gaillard (USA) 3rd. Laura Baldwin finished with two good races to confirm her position as top Brit and to move her into 26th overall.

Other British positions were Nicky Muller 55th, Lizzie Vickers 66th (including 4 top 10 finishes), Andrea Brewster 68th and Barbara Watson 113th.

World Championships for Men
2nd - 9th September, 2003

 

Chris Gill and James Eynon made the journey to Cadiz for the Europe Worlds for Men which took place between the 2nd and 9th of September. Chris finished in 48th place, with James in 60th.

Worlds Open Week for Women 2nd - 9th September, 2003

Three of our Worlds team competed in the Open Week in Cadiz. Laura Baldwin continued her good form finishing in 17th place, with Nicky Muller 34th and Lizzie Vickers 37th.

European Championships 6th - 11th July, 2003

Many congratulations to Laura Baldwin who sailed an excellent European Championships.
With an 8th and 15th on the final day,
Laura finished in 9th place overall out of 122 entries. Well
done

Andrea Brewster was 2nd Brit in 33rd, Nicky Muller was 55th and Lizzie Vickers 108th.

Hyeres 27th April - 2nd May, 2003

Andrea Brewster sailed well to be the first Brit home, finishing in 27th place out of a field of 107. Laura Baldwin finished 34th, Kirsty Bonar 36th, Nicky Muller 53rd, Sarah Webb 104th and Natalie Lloyd 106th. Full Results.


Princess Sofia 13-18th April, 2003

After the first 3 days, Laura Baldwin and Kirsty Bonar were the leading Brits, lying in 17th and 19th places (out of 120 entries), however Kirsty had back problems and couldn't sail the last 3 races. The final British positions were Laura Baldwin 23rd, Andrea Brewster 27th, Kirsty Bonar 40th and Nicky Muller 54th. Full Results.


Barcelona Week 5-9th April, 2003

With 2 races on the final day, Kirsty Bonar continued to sail consistently well to finish in 13th place. The Silver fleet only sailed one more race, but Andrea, Sarah, Nicky and Natalie all made the most of it to improve their overall positions. The final results were Kirsty Bonar 13th, Andrea

Cadiz - III Carnival Regatta 6-9th March, 2003

Some superb sailing by Kirsty Bonar saw her finish 4th overall in this 2003 ISAF Worlds test
event. Leading after day one, a black flag in race 5 meant
Kirsty had to count a 21st, which
unfortunately took her out of the top three.
Andrea Brewster also sailed consistently well to finish 13th with Nicky Muller 23rd, Sarah Webb 24th and Natalie Lloyd 46th. Full results can be

Athens Eurolymp 18-22nd February, 2003

The event was won by Multala Sarit of Finland who counted 6 bullets out of the 11 race series. With only 1 discard, Laura Baldwin returned a number of top 20 finishes to finish 17th. The full results can be found at the Hellenic Yachting Federation Website.
